House Updating

Allow us to start with an apology to our faithful readers for having gone on such an extended hiatus from our blog. We're back. :)
Our latest endeavors have been to paint the trim on the front of our house and replace our couches. (Ah...the excitement of married life!) The trim around the windows and garage doors was a very light khaki/brown and didn't show up well against the house, so we replaced it with a darker brown, almost green shade. We started with the upstairs window trims (because, in case the new color looked horrible, they're mostly hidden by the Bradford pear in the front yard). You can see the difference between the two shades in this picture. It definitely showed up and looked better than the light garage trim, so we went with it.
We also picked out a new piece of metal work and experimented with it above the garage doors. I think it fills the empty space on the front of the house pretty well.

In other exciting news, we got a new coffee table from the shop where Daniel's mother works. It's really beautiful, hand-hewn...and BIG. It looked pretty strange and oversized with our old living room furniture, but still nice. However, now it looks a lot better since we got our new (to us) couches!

Here's the whole story:
Mom and Dad are selling their house in Athens, and therefore getting rid of some of their furniture. Andi and Greg were tired of their couches and ready for a change, so they took mom and dad's big, white, leather, L-shaped couch and gave us one of their old couches. However, the matching love seat to our newly acquired couch was at the lake. So we took the love seat from the lake and the couch from Andi and Greg, and now we're going to take our old couches
(donated to us from Daniel's Grumps and Grandmother) down to the lake to replace the love seat we took. Got it? I love the new couches and think they look really great with the coffee table. They're a little big for our living room, but I think it works!

Otherwise, life has been going really well for us. Daniel and I joined a small group in our church and we've really been enjoying getting together with them. There are 5 couples all together, they're all around our age and stage of life, and it's been fun getting to know them and having fellowship. Also, Andi and Greg and getting very close to their due date now, and we're all getting excited about the arrival of their little bundle of surprises! I know they'll be happy with either one, but I think it will be a girl and Daniel insists it's a boy. I guess we'll find out on October 24th!

In related news, my cousin Jim, who is currently serving in Afganistan, and his wife just had their first baby. So, Congratulations to them and their family, and we wish them the best of luck!

The trim work really shows up good - very nice touch! and the new (to you) sofa and love seat are very attractive, and wow, really like the coffee table - I love that wood! So you guys have really been working!

Sounds like your small group is a fun 'couples' thing to do - good for both of you! Look forward to seeing Daniel and finishing the dock - and can't wait to see your old sofa at the lakehouse (thanks to 'Grumps and Gramdmother'!)
