Samuel's one month check-up went pretty well except that his pediatrician was a little bit concerned about his weight gain. He started out 8# 3oz, at his first appointment (3 days old) he was 7# 12oz (it's normal to loose weight after birth), at the follow-up appointment (5 days old) he was 7# 14oz, and at one month, 8# 5oz. He was up above his birth weight, which is good, but not far above, so the doctor wanted to see him back in 10 days. When we went back, he weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces!

So he gained 8 ounces in 10 days, which I thought was pretty good! He definitely looks a little meatier to me...still a pretty skinny kid overall, but I'm not sure he'll ever outgrown that with his dad's genes.
I think he has been going through a growth spurt though, because this week has been pretty rough through the nights.

Samuel has woken up about every 2 to 2.5 hours to eat when he used to go about 3, even sometimes 5 hours at a time at night. Last night is was every 2 hours like clockwork! You could have set your watch to it, seriously - 11...1...3...5...7:30am until finally I got up after the last feeding and we went for a walk at 8 this morning. When we got home, Daniel was up getting ready for work and I actually got an uninterupted shower while he watched him. After that, Samuel slept until noon and actually let me catch up on some sleep too!
This week, Daniel's grandparents are back in town for his Grump's birthday.

We joined his whole family, including Andrew and Katie, for a delicious dinner at his folks' house Monday night. Mimzy (I think she finally settled on her grandma name:) ) and Grandmother got a lot of good "lap time" with Samuel, and though he was a little fussy toward the end of the evening, he did pretty well overall and even handed out a few smiles during dinner.
Samuel's hairline as started to recede a little bit these last couple weeks.

It's somewhat giving him the appearance of a balding old man with the ring of full dark hair around the bottom but bald on top. It's pretty cute, but it makes me wonder how much will actually fall out! He'll probably be a little q-tip baby in a month! We'll see what color it grows back, too. Maybe he'll be a blonde - HA! Fat chance, but we'll see.
Tonight is our first fall league goaltimate game. It's a like playing "half-court" ultimate frisbee where the field is much smaller, only 4 people on each team on the field at a time, and you score by throwing the disc to a teammate standing in a goal that somewhat resembles a soccer goal, instead of in an endzone. I'm a little nervous getting out there because I haven't played since I was about 20 weeks pregnant. I'm DEFINITELY out of shape, but I also haven't really even thrown a disc in months outside of a few casual tosses at the lake house. We'll see how it goes...

Yea! What a great update. Glad he's putting a little more meat on his bones, but I don't see him ever reaching Michelin Man status! Not with his parent's good metabolism and genes!
Good luck with the game tonight! I'm sure you'll be excited to get out and do some running around and stretch your muscles.
Great to see the update! I like Mimzy - that's cute! What is Granddad being named? Samuel looks so alert and adorable, and when he smiled last week at us it was really a thrill!
